Meet Our Move Over Mozart Piano Teachers
Igniting Musical Joy in Seattle & Online
Pamela Cornell aka “Miss Pam”
Director
I started teaching as a private piano teacher and a children's choir director while I was still in high school. It was through those opportunities that I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Since getting a Bachelor's from Seattle Pacific University I have had many more opportunities to teach. In addition to music and piano, I have taught math, Driver's Education, and tutored for the G.E.D. I love music because it can touch the heart of any type of person, creative or analytical, and because the range of music is so vast, from popular to ethnic, slow and mellow to jazzy and festive. It is a joy to listen to someone when they finally finish a piece of music and are able to put their own personality into it. Seeing that excitement in others is why I am a teacher.
Since its opening in 1994, Move Over Mozart has had the opportunity to introduce thousands of children to the piano and music. One of our yearly highlights has been our Spring Recital, which gives all the children, beginning 3 year olds to advanced 12 year olds, the opportunity to perform on a concert grand piano. Through all the years, my mission has been to bring the joy of music and piano playing to all children, regardless of social status or income without compromising our quality.
Claire Wang aka “Mrs. Claire”
Piano Teacher for Private Lessons and Crescendo Kids Online
I am a pianist, pedagogue, collaborative artist, composer and arranger based in Cheney, Washington. I have a Master of Music in Piano Performance from Eastern Washington University and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from University of Montana. As of July 2023, I am a Nationally Certified Teacher of Music through the Music Teachers’ National Association.
Since 2017, I have taught students of all ages and skill levels, drawing on my broad pedagogical instruction to tailor my method to the individual student’s needs. Some of my favorite pedagogical techniques include singing, clapping rhythms, tension taming, applying music theory and metronome work. I strive to help pupils play with musical artistry, intent and skill, though my ultimate goal as a teacher is to spread joy through the experience of learning something new.
In addition to my career as a teacher, I have a wide breadth of experience as a performer, including solo and collaborative recitals, competitions, radio appearances, musical theater productions and more.
Mrs. Claire has been a piano teacher with Move Over Mozart since 2024. She is available in the afternoons, Sunday - Thursday.
Aaron Ton aka “Mr. Aaron”
Piano Teacher for Crescendo Kids Classes at Spartan Recreation Center
Music is essential to my life as a performer, listener, and creator. I studied piano privately for 11 years and have played the viola for 8 years in school ensembles. I was the principal violist of the Mariner High School Philharmonic Orchestra, where I also founded the Mariner High School Chamber Orchestra and served as vice president of the orchestra council. Currently, I still play both instruments in my free time for enjoyment.
In high school, I was involved in community service through the National Honors Society and also served as a freshman mentor, helping underclassmen acclimate to a new stage of life. As I continue my education at university, I seek to grow my experiences as a teacher and servant of my community.
I love music because it allows me to express and receive feelings and messages that can’t be put into words. Music is a powerful language I hope to share through teaching piano to students at Move Over Mozart!
Aaron has been a Piano Teacher with Move Over Mozart since 2024.
Elena Lopez aka “Miss Elena”
Piano Teacher for Crescendo Kids Classes at North Kirkland Community Center
I have been playing the piano since a very young age and have spent around a decade studying through private lessons. During my musical journey, I’ve participated in several classical piano competitions and had the privilege of performing at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, as well as on KING-FM Radio. Although my primary focus is classical music, I also enjoy the occasional Disney princess song and pop music. Music has always been a significant part of my life, bringing me immense joy. I believe it holds incredible power and emotion, and I love sharing my passion for music with others.
Miss Elena has been a piano teacher with Move Over Mozart since 2025.
Clarissa Skipworth aka “Ms. Clarissa”
Piano Teacher for Private Lessons and Crescendo Kids Online
Piano was my first musical love. Although I began my classical training in kindergarten, it wasn’t until I challenged myself to learn Clair de Lune in early high school that I realized how important the piano was in my life. Romantic period pieces quickly became my favorite, expressive pieces through which I could bring my unfiltered self to the piano and pour my heart into the keys. The ability to transcend words to connect with an audience motivated me to build my technical ability, and the desire to share the beauty of this experience inspired me to teach.
I went on to perform as the most advanced soloist at the community college I attended later in high school, where I also took classes in music theory. In university, I performed at recitals as a departmental music scholarship recipient, including accompaniments and duets in ensemble with a violinist friend from the department. After earning my Bachelor’s from the University of Dallas, I continued to tutor and teach piano as well as computer science, mathematics, and English. I also have some experience with voice, violin, guitar, and drums, and I am currently furthering my musical training in audio production.
My favorite part of teaching is when I see the light flicker on behind a student’s eyes. I love seeing my students grow as they make breakthroughs and discover their own creative spark. I approach my teaching with gentle encouragement, patience, and playfulness. Children especially connect best through play, and music at its core is playful and creative. I believe every student, regardless of level, has a wonderful opportunity to build a lifelong, joyful relationship with music through the piano.
Clarissa has been a piano teacher with Move Over Mozart since 2025. She is available Tuesday and Thursday afternoons
Emily Price aka “Miss Emily”
Piano Teacher for Crescendo Kids at The Shyne School
Ever since I began playing at three years old, piano has been central to my life. As a performer, I have enjoyed participating in numerous classical competitions, benefit concerts, and volunteer performances, as well as frequent recitals and school musical activities. I've also performed as an accompanist for school and various vocal and instrumental groups.
In high school, I engaged with other young musicians by founding a branch of TRI-M, a national music honors society, and with the larger community through my work in National Honors Society and Empower Youth Network. As I enter my studies at university, I hope to continue connecting with others through service and music.
I've taught piano for the past six years, beginning with a small private studio and eventually joining the Move Over Mozart community. Learning piano and creating music is a wonderful journey to go on, and I'm delighted to be sharing that with my students!
Miss Emily has been a teacher with Move Over Mozart since 2025.
Sachie Tunick aka "Ms. Sachie"
Substitute Piano Teacher
I was born to an award-winning conductor and music teacher and exposed to music at a very early age. I began piano and ear-training at the age of three and soon joined the Yamaha Musical School program. Throughout my childhood I played passionately and kept the fire of love for piano and music burning. I enjoy sharing this spark of musical love to my students. I studied at Las Positas College in California, with a focus on music and piano as well as early childhood development. In addition to teaching piano, I am a seasoned pre-school educator.
Prior to Move Over Mozart, I taught with a Russian school of music in Silicon valley of California for over five years. I believe in the musical potential of all students and am excited to work with each student to unlock their abilities and motivations. I love to overcome each individual’s obstacles and enhance their inner strengths. Let’s start a fire for music together!
Ms. Sachie has been a piano teacher with Move Over Mozart since 2017.
Kevin Kenney aka “Mr. Kevin”
Piano Teacher
I have been around music my whole life. My mother was a piano teacher, so I grew up with the sound of lessons going on in the background all the time. I took music lessons for various instruments but I always kept coming back to the piano. I earned a BFA from State University of New York at Purchase and have been a life long music student. In 2004 I started teaching private piano lessons and have found it incredibly rewarding. I play the piano frequently and find it an extremely expressive instrument. I look forward to sharing this love of the piano with many students at Move Over Mozart!
Mr. Kevin has been a piano teacher with Move Over Mozart since 2011, teaching nearly 700 different piano students.
