Meet Our Move Over Mozart Piano Teachers

Igniting Musical Joy in Seattle & Online

Pamela Cornell aka “Miss Pam”

Director

I started teaching as a private piano teacher and a children's choir director while I was still in high school. It was through those opportunities that I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Since getting a Bachelor's from Seattle Pacific University I have had many more opportunities to teach. In addition to music and piano, I have taught math, Driver's Education, and tutored for the G.E.D. I love music because it can touch the heart of any type of person, creative or analytical, and because the range of music is so vast, from popular to ethnic, slow and mellow to jazzy and festive. It is a joy to listen to someone when they finally finish a piece of music and are able to put their own personality into it. Seeing that excitement in others is why I am a teacher.

Since its opening in 1994, Move Over Mozart has had the opportunity to introduce thousands of children to the piano and music. One of our yearly highlights has been our Spring Recital, which gives all the children, beginning 3 year olds to advanced 12 year olds, the opportunity to perform on a concert grand piano. Through all the years, my mission has been to bring the joy of music and piano playing to all children, regardless of social status or income without compromising our quality.

Claire Wang aka “Ms. Claire”

Piano Teacher for Private Lessons and Crescendo Kids Online

As a teacher, I strive to help my students experience the joy of music from the very beginning. In each lesson, I feel my role as their teacher is complete when they learn something new and a smile pops up on their face. Some of my favorite pedagogical tools are games focused on note naming, rhythm, singing and segmented practice. Good posture, healthy hand position, beautiful phrasing and music theory are a few other skills I regularly emphasize in students’ lessons. By employing these strategies, they can continuously add to their treasure trove of knowledge, and eventually bloom into musical artists.

I am a nationally certified teacher of music through the MTNA, and I hold two degrees in piano performance from nationally accredited schools of music. Merging my love of teaching with evolving technology, I joined Move Over Mozart as an online teacher in 2024. Currently, I teach in the afternoon hours from Sunday to Thursday.

Elena Lopez aka “Miss Elena”

Piano Teacher for Crescendo Kids Classes at North Kirkland Community Center

I have been playing the piano since a very young age and have spent around a decade studying through private lessons. During my musical journey, I’ve participated in several classical piano competitions and had the privilege of performing at Benaroya Hall in Seattle, as well as on KING-FM Radio. Although my primary focus is classical music, I also enjoy the occasional Disney princess song and pop music. Music has always been a significant part of my life, bringing me immense joy. I believe it holds incredible power and emotion, and I love sharing my passion for music with others.

Miss Elena has been a piano teacher with Move Over Mozart since 2025.

Cynthy Lam aka “Ms. Cynthy”

Piano Teacher for Crescendo Kids at A Child’s Journey Montessori, The Children’s Courtyard in Bellevue and The Shyne School

I want each student to feel that piano is fun and exciting. From a child’s eyes, lessons with me are a place to smile, laugh, sing, and discover music in a way that feels safe and encouraging. I love when students leave a lesson feeling proud of what they have learned and eager to try more.

Music has been part of my life since I was young, and piano has always been my favorite. I studied Psychology, Sociology, and Music at the University of Washington, worked as a counselor, and spent time volunteering with children in schools. For the past fifteen years, I have also been the pianist for my church. I enjoy playing many different kinds of music, from classical to pop, Disney, movies, spirituals, and even game music, and I bring that variety into lessons so students can connect with the sounds they love most.

Through piano, I hope every child discovers the joy of music and feels inspired to grow in their own way.

Ms Cynthy has been a teacher with Move Over Mozart since 2025.

Yang Danny Yue aka “Mr. Danny”

Piano Teacher at Spartan Recreation Center, Crescendo Kids Online and Private Lessons

Hi! I'm Danny Yue. I’ve been at the piano for more than thirteen years, and it has always felt like a place where I can learn, try new things, and express myself. That feeling is exactly what I want a child to experience when they sit beside me. I focus on being a caring, patient, engaging and fun teacher so a young musician can relax, explore, and feel proud of each small step forward.

I passed the Level 10 Examination of the Musician Association of China and spent years studying percussion, voice, composition, theory and music appreciation. I also performed in a brass band and a choir that both earned Group Golden Awards in Shanghai. All of that matters to me because it helps me understand the many different ways a child can learn and communicate through music. When a child feels stuck, I can offer another angle. When they feel curious, I can open a new door.

I even studied how generative AI can support creativity and wrote three original pieces using those tools. That project taught me how important it is to give children room to create. Sometimes they surprise themselves with ideas they didn’t know they had. I love being the teacher who encourages that spark.

I’ve taught many children between the ages of three and twelve in one-on-one lessons. Each child comes in with a different personality, a different pace, a different level of confidence. My job is to help them feel safe to try, to express themselves freely, and to build a gentle sense of perseverance through an organized and quality curriculum that keeps things simple, easy, convenient.

More than anything, I want your child to feel supported at the piano. When a child feels understood, they begin to enjoy the work, celebrate their progress, and grow into a musician who trusts their own voice. I would be honored to guide your child on that journey.

Mr. Danny has been a teacher with Move Over Mozart since 2025.

Sachie Tunick aka "Ms. Sachie"

Substitute Piano Teacher

I was born to an award-winning conductor and music teacher and exposed to music at a very early age. I began piano and ear-training at the age of three and soon joined the Yamaha Musical School program. Throughout my childhood I played passionately and kept the fire of love for piano and music burning. I enjoy sharing this spark of musical love to my students. I studied at Las Positas College in California, with a focus on music and piano as well as early childhood development. In addition to teaching piano, I am a seasoned pre-school educator.

Prior to Move Over Mozart, I taught with a Russian school of music in Silicon valley of California for over five years. I believe in the musical potential of all students and am excited to work with each student to unlock their abilities and motivations. I love to overcome each individual’s obstacles and enhance their inner strengths. Let’s start a fire for music together!

Ms. Sachie has been a piano teacher with Move Over Mozart since 2017.
