-
Yes! And we get it. 8 minutes sounds short. But for your child, that’s exactly why it works.
Short, focused sessions keep them engaged, confident, and excited to come back. No zoning out. No frustration. Just one small, joyful win at a time.
In 8 minutes your child will . . .
Get the foundation needed to practice a new song,
Play a music game with their teacher, reinforcing the theory needed to play.
Have increased motivation to continue learning and playing between lessons.
Enjoy the entire time, without feeling bored.
But there is even more! Your child is also supported with an interactive practice app, a self-paced curriculum, video lessons, practice incentives and rewards, along with a caring teacher organizing and planning the best musical pathway for your child. It is the entire program, not just 8-minute lessons.
-
Yes. The program is designed to be simple, easy, and flexible for busy families. Lessons can be added or canceled easily through the calendar. Every child has their own rhythm. Some prefer a steady routine. Others enjoy a little more space between lessons. As long as there is 24 hours notice and only one lesson per day, the schedule can match whatever pace works well for your child.

Our piano lessons use a variety of methods for a comprehensive and enjoyable learning experience:
Kodály Rhythm: Associating each rhythmic note with a syllable (e.g. ”ta” for quarter notes).
Ear-Training: Recognizing notes and patterns by listening.
Solfegge: Syllables for scale tones (Do, Re, Mi) with a movable "Do."
Learning Through Fun: We believe that children are motivated to learn when they are having fun. Many musical concepts are taught through interactive games and activities to keep the learning process enjoyable.
Color-Coding: Colors for keys and finger placements. (Preschool only)
Hal Leonard, Piano Lessons, book: Easy to follow with simple concepts making this book ideal for younger beginners and non-musical parents.
Robert Pace, Music for Piano, book: Ideal for older beginners, focusing on note pattern recognition and basic music theory.

When a child begins piano lessons, establishing a regular daily practice routine is crucial. Don’t worry about quantity or even quality. That will come in time. Here’s what we recommend to get started:
Daily Routine: Make practice a daily habit, focusing on consistency rather than time or quality.
Set a Schedule: Pick a consistent "piano time" that fits your child's routine. (e.g. after brushing teeth or after a meal)
Flexible Practice: Let your child play anything for any length of time during "piano time.” What they play and for how long they play will come out of their own desire to make music.
Offer Choices: Piano time can be listening to piano music, playing a song already learned, creating a new song, sharing what was taught in their lesson, playing a music theory game, or pretending to perform.
-
For children ages 3-5, piano practice can be a little different compared to an older student. Here’s what to expect:
Exploring Sounds: Kids will enjoy making various sounds on the piano.
Imitation and Pretend Play: They may pretend to be performers or composers, imitating songs they like.
Discovery: They'll learn which notes sound pleasant and how to control notes with their fingers.
Simple Practice: Playing their lesson song once or twice a day is sufficient.
Creative Play: Encouraging them to create their own music fosters a love for learning.
At this age, making music fun and engaging is key to developing their interest and skills.
“My daughter has been with Move Over Mozart for three years and I can’t believe her progress with just 8-minute one-on-one lessons
— She didn’t even know how to read music before, and now she can play!”
