Move Over Mozart's Piano Recitals

Fun & Engaging for Kids! (Kirkland & Online)

Our recitals are a blast! We keep them low-key and informal, increasing your child’s comfort and encouraging a pleasant and positive association with performances. The children have fun hearing other students perform and experiencing the joy of sharing their music with family and friends. We have 3 main recitals each year. End of Summer, Winter Holidays in December and our Spring Recital in May. All of our recitals have the option of being online. All students will prepare for the recitals in their classes.

Our Summer and Holiday recitals are located at the piano class location and are scheduled close to the same time as your child’s regular lesson time. We combine a couple of classes in one recital to allow siblings to perform together and to allow the children the opportunity to hear other students from other levels. We invite parents and friends to come and hear our performance and get a peek into some of the interactive activities we participate in during class. These two recitals take place instead of your regular scheduled class.

How can I help my child prepare for the Spring Piano Recital?

Although all of our piano teachers are preparing their students for the Spring Piano Recital, there are additional ways to practice outside of class that parents can also do to help prepare their child.

  • Practicing at home is the most important way to prepare. The more familiar your child is with their performance piece, the more comfortable and relaxed they will be at the piano recital.

  • Although it isn't required, having your child memorize their song will help him or her feel more confident.

  • Since the children will be performing on a concert grand piano, practicing at least once or twice on an acoustic piano will allow your child to become familiar with its different and unique feel.

  • Performing mini-recitals for family or visiting friends also helps them to be comfortable with playing in front of others.

Does my child need to be currently enrolled in a piano classes to participate in the Spring Piano Recital?

Absolutely! it will be during the Spring session that we start preparing your child for the piano recital. The student and teacher will pick a recent song for their performance. During class, their teacher will give tips for performing, as well as practice recital etiquette. Please register for the Spring session early! If your class still fills before you get a chance to register, make sure your child's name is on the wait list or our online classes are always available. Every effort is made to make room for returning students on wait lists.

The only exception to this would be if your child is currently taking piano lessons somewhere else. If that is the case, please give us the contact information of your child's teacher so he or she can adequately prepare your child. Incidentally, we LOVE having former students perform at the Spring Recital! Please contact Pam if you have any questions about this.

Is there a dress code for the Spring Piano Recital?

Piano recitals for children online and in Kirkland, Shoreline and Mill Creek.

There is no dress code for the piano recital.  Our teachers will be dressed formally or semi-formally, but your child should wear whatever feels most comfortable for him or her.  The purpose of this event is to have fun.  If dressing up will stress your child, please have them wear comfortable clothes.

That being said, it is typical and appropriate for performers to dress up when giving a concert, just as it is also expected of audience members to attend a formal concert in their best attire.  Because of the nature of our performers and the purpose of our recital, this etiquette rule is not adhered to in a Move Over Mozart concert.  Let's go have fun!

Move Over Mozart piano recitals are designed for kids! Low stress, high comfort, inviting environment, lots of fun! Our Spring Recital is located in Kirkland. Virtual Recitals are in the comfort of your home!
