I started teaching as a private piano teacher and a children's choir director while I was still in high school. It was through those opportunities that I knew I wanted to be a teacher. Since getting a Bachelor's from Seattle Pacific University I have had many more opportunities to teach. In addition to music and piano, I have taught math, Driver's Education, and tutored for the G.E.D. I love music because it can touch the heart of any type of person, creative or analytical, and because the range of music is so vast, from popular to ethnic, slow and mellow to jazzy and festive. It is a joy to listen to someone when they finally finish a piece of music and are able to put their own personality into it. Seeing that excitement in others is why I am a teacher.
Since its opening in 1994, Move Over Mozart has had the opportunity to introduce thousands of children to the piano and music. One of our yearly highlights has been our Spring Recital, which gives all the children, beginning 3 year olds to advanced 12 year olds, the opportunity to perform on a concert grand piano. Through all the years, my mission has been to bring the joy of music and piano playing to all children, regardless of social status or income without compromising our quality.
Claire Wang aka “Ms. Claire”

As a teacher, I strive to help my students experience the joy of music from the very beginning. In each lesson, I feel my role as their teacher is complete when they learn something new and a smile pops up on their face. Some of my favorite pedagogical tools are games focused on note naming, rhythm, singing and segmented practice. Good posture, healthy hand position, beautiful phrasing and music theory are a few other skills I regularly emphasize in students’ lessons. By employing these strategies, they can continuously add to their treasure trove of knowledge, and eventually bloom into musical artists.
I am a nationally certified teacher of music through the MTNA, and I hold two degrees in piano performance from nationally accredited schools of music. Merging my love of teaching with evolving technology, I joined Move Over Mozart as an online teacher in 2024.
Elaina Malcolm aka “Miss Elaina”
Piano Teacher for Crescendo Kids Online and Private Lessons
Music has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Voice is my first instrument. I also love sharing music through piano, guitar, and ukulele. My goal is for students to feel successful and confident as they learn to read music, play an instrument, and understand what they are creating.
I spent 24 years teaching music in public schools, working with students from kindergarten through high school in choir, piano, percussion ensemble, drama, and general music classes. I have also taught private and group lessons in homes and music academies throughout the Seattle area, including teaching piano classes with Move Over Mozart while earning my teaching degree. My training in child-centered music education shapes the way I teach, helping students hear music internally, recognize patterns, and connect what they see on the page with what they hear and feel.
I believe music is one of the most powerful ways to build confidence, connection, and joy. In my lessons, students are supported with care, patience, and encouragement, so learning feels meaningful rather than overwhelming. Whether a child is just beginning or continuing their musical journey, I strive to create lessons that are engaging, rewarding, and full of moments to feel proud. I am so excited to be teaching with Move Over Mozart again and to share the gift of music with your family.
Elaina worked with Move Over Mozart in our early years in the late 1990’s. She rejoined us recently in 2026.
Alyssa Epilepsia aka “Miss Alyssa”
Piano Teacher for Crescendo Kids at Lendemain Clubhouse
Music has been part of my life since early childhood, beginning with over a decade of piano study that paved the way for me into choir accompaniment and jazz bands. The happiest memories of my music career were formed by loving the music that I played and being able to share it with people who felt the same, whether they were fellow musicians or an enthused audience. As a teacher I have many years of experience in early childhood education, have tutored both children and adults, and have a passion for learning languages; I am proficient in Japanese and Spanish, but I consider music to be a language of its own too.
But before I am a teacher of any subject, I am an ardent student with a dedication to lifelong learning. In lessons with me, children feel supported to make choices, try new things, and stick with challenges. They gain confidence, discover the joy of creating, and experience the pride that comes from persevering. Whether they continue with music professionally or simply as a lifelong love, I want every child to play what they love, and love what they play.
I believe music should be accessible to all children, and I know every child learns differently, so no matter how quickly or gradually they come to love music, I encourage kids to harness it as more than just a form of entertainment, but as another voice for them to communicate their emotions through. If they can at least learn that from me, their connection to music will be strong for the rest of their lives.

Youseon Kim aka “Ms. Youseon”
Piano Teacher for Private Lessons and Crescendo Kids Online
My first love is the piano, but I double majored in piano and organ performance in Korea. I then received a master's degree in piano performance at the University of Nevada, Reno. I loved my time in Reno--the music department was full of talented and committed professors, and I learned so much through spending time with my teachers and peers. I also raised my two kids in Reno, and one of them is a professional musician who has performed with major American orchestras for the past 15 years!
My goal is to make music a thoroughly enjoyable experience for my students, and I love helping people learn through positive reinforcement and encouragement. One of my favorite things to do is work with beginners. There is such wonder in building a musician "from scratch", and the sense of accomplishment I see in a student when they are able to finally play a piece of music with confidence is quite remarkable.
My teaching experience over the past 30+ has mainly been in private piano lessons, but I've also been a substitute teacher in K-12 schools and have served on faculties of colleges as well. I've taught group lessons, voice lessons, and served as choir director in churches and schools. Teaching is my passion, and I love working with students of all ages and abilities!
Ms. Youseon has been a teacher with Move Over Mozart since 2026.
Sachie Tunick aka "Ms. Sachie"
Substitute Piano Teacher
I was born to an award-winning conductor and music teacher and exposed to music at a very early age. I began piano and ear-training at the age of three and soon joined the Yamaha Musical School program. Throughout my childhood I played passionately and kept the fire of love for piano and music burning. I enjoy sharing this spark of musical love to my students. I studied at Las Positas College in California, with a focus on music and piano as well as early childhood development. In addition to teaching piano, I am a seasoned pre-school educator.
Prior to Move Over Mozart, I taught with a Russian school of music in Silicon valley of California for over five years. I believe in the musical potential of all students and am excited to work with each student to unlock their abilities and motivations. I love to overcome each individual’s obstacles and enhance their inner strengths. Let’s start a fire for music together!
